Warriors midfielder Khama Billiat has been included in the CAF team of the year ahead of the CAF awards slated for Abuja, Nigeria this evening.

Billiat will have to shrug off the challenge of Rainford Kalaba of TP Mazembe and Mamelodi Sundowns team mate Dennis Onyango.

If he is voted the best African player based in Africa, Billiat would add to accolades won when he was voted South African footballer of the year, players player of the year and best midfielders of the year in the ABSA premiership last year.

Billiat is in the running for the top CAF award after helping Mamelodi Sundowns claim the CAF Champions League title for the first time in the clubs history.

The midfielder also played an influential role in Zimbabwe’s qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations which gets underway next week.

The CAF footballers of the year category open to top players plying their trade abroad will be contested by Pierre Emerick Aubemeyang, Riyadd Mahrez and Sadio Mane.
