Government is working flat out to avert fertiliser shortages especially ammonium nitrate which is on high demand by farmers.
Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister Dr Joseph Made assured the farmers that government will do its best to avert top dressing fertilizer shortage and ensure both Command and Presidential Inputs Schemes achieve the intended results.
The bulk of the crop under command agriculture has reached a critical stage where it requires top dressing fertilizers.
Meanwhile, government is on standby to deal with the outbreak of armyworm which has been detected in Zambia and usually occurs during the January and February mid season dry spell in Zimbabwe.
